This notice applies to all Apparel and Soft goods vendors

Garment In-Store Presentation

Target’s ongoing commitment to providing value for money Quality products and service is becoming even more important in the current retail environment. An essential component of this commitment to customers is ensuring all stock in Target’s stores meets or exceeds its In-Store presentation standards. Maintaining these standards is an essential key to competitiveness and customer experience.

However, recent store audits indicate that many garments are not reaching stores in an acceptable condition due to creasing and poor transit packaging.
Suppliers are reminded of their obligation to deliver customer ready apparel that is free from defects and creasing.
Target is currently monitoring all DC/store deliveries and will not accept garments that are creased or have an unacceptable appearance.
Creasing Examples

Some contributing factors to poor appearance are:

  • Cartons too small
  • Containers over and under packed
  • Hangers not securely fixed inside cartons
  • Incorrect hanger used

Please note that receipted stock that is not in pristine condition may be reprocessed by a third party processor and a claim made against the offending vendor for all costs incurred.

To assist suppliers with this issue The Target Quality Assurance department is currently reviewing its Floor Ready presentation standards for a broad range of Apparel. These new updated guidelines will be communicated to suppliers in the coming weeks.

Target recommends distribution of this communication to Vendor’s resources, supply chain and QC departments ensuring full awareness of the importance of delivering crease free garments to the quality our customers have come to expect.
